Herbergh De Jonghe Graef Van Buuren
The inn owes its name to Stadtholder Willem V, who supposedly spent the night here as a young prince. The prince was on horseback with an important message on his way to Amsterdam when he was caught in a thunderstorm.
The Orange scion traveled incognito under the name Count Van Buuren. On the upper floor is still the box-bed in which he is said to have slept. The prince is depicted on the facade stone.
The building is one of the oldest in Hilversum. The right part dates from 1739 and was one of the few houses to survive the great village fire of 1766.

Concept and Kitchen
The renovation was intended to preserve the familiar character of our establishment, with a fresh and contemporary look. We cherish the authentic atmosphere that this place has always had and ensure that everyone continues to feel welcome.
Our concept remains as you know it – welcoming, warm and without frills – but with a modern twist in the details. No tablets or QR codes at the table, but real contact and personal attention.
In the kitchen, craftsmanship and creativity are central. We cook with attention, work with fresh ingredients and give each dish the time and care it deserves.

Our Team
In our restaurant, everything revolves around the staff, because without an enthusiastic team there is no atmospheric evening! We believe in the power of collaboration, hospitality and above all: conviviality in the workplace. As a team, we work together every day to ensure that our guests feel welcome and enjoy a pleasant experience. Together we form a close-knit team where everyone feels at home, where there is laughter and where we enjoy getting the best out of ourselves every day.
Words from the Owner:
You run a restaurant with passion – and you can feel that with us immediately.
As the owner, I am right in the middle of the business myself. Not behind the scenes, but right among the people. Because that is what the hospitality industry means to me: working hard, laughing together and making sure everyone feels welcome. I love being pampered.
Good and honest advice from the staff about what is best to eat or drink – that just makes your evening that much better. And that is exactly what I want to offer my guests.
Nice atmosphere, personal attention and just good food and drinks. That is what it is all about for me.
